The pure differential switch is used to protect people and not systems. When a person touches it, it creates a circuit with the earth. The current, instead of remaining in the domestic circuit, uses the human body to go to earth.
The differential switch , also called a safety switch , is a device present in your electrical system. It is able to open the circuit, that is, to interrupt the supply of energy, when the current is accidentally dispersed.
A pure differential switch offers protection in the event of current leakage but not in the event of overvoltage. For this type of problem, a magnetothermic switch is needed.
The AC type differential switch provides intervention for sinusoidal differential alternating currents applied suddenly or slowly increasing (CEI EN 61008-1).
